Climbing partner, anyone?
Hi there--
I'm a middle-aged woman who has done a little climbing and wants to do a lot more. Not a total beginner but not ready for a 5.8, either. (I'm short--is that a good excuse on those reachy routes?) I'd like a partner for the gym (other newbies welcome) but I'd also like someone who could lead in the Gunks. All my climbing outside so far has been with hired guides...nice, but too expensive to do a lot. I live on the UWS AND I have a car...so, if you've got the skills, the experience, the rack, and the patience, I've got the wheels.

Look into the Women's Climbing Group at The Rock Club in New Rochelle. Ages vary; I am mid 50's, climb with a pal in her 60s, very friendly active group of all ages. It meets weekly on Mondays (daypass for women 1/2 price) to climb/talk/eat.. People hook up to climb outside, following or leading, and also some big group trips usually toproped to accomodate all abilities.. Pictures available! Check it out at:
