Coming to NYC
Hi all,
I'm from Italy and I'll come to NYC for summer holidays (2 to 20 August),
I'd like to go climbing, bouldering in central park, but also, if possible organise week end around NYC area,
I'm more used to sport climbing (can lad up to 5.10 c/d depends on style!) but I did some trad climbing too (can lead up to 5.9 I guess...)
can anybody help me?!
Or at least suggest me some nice place where to have a beer in NYC!!!
Bye,
Mara.

Where about in Italy? Arco? Dolomite?
There is a lot to do in New York. Central Park climbing around the Rat Rock. Then there is Gunks with so many routes. It takes many years to climb them! They are mostly trad multi-pitch routes.
Give buzz. I go to the gunk quite often and you can come. You may need to bring camping gear; a small tent(or good bivy bag), light sleeping bag, pad (perhaps it is best to buy cheap pad $10). You are set with camping and climbing many days at the Gunk.
Beer-wise? there are a lot to choose from 50,000 bar and restaurents. You are best off looking into Zagat. New Paltz has a few good ones hard to miss.
No Dolomiti, Aosta, near Mont Blanc!
I'd like to come to Gunks, everybody said it's very nice!
But I don't know if I'll be able to bring camp stuff in my suite case!
Anyway it's sounds good,
will you go on august too or it will be too hot?!
Aosta is nice and food is great...
I spend the spring in Chamonix. Climbing has been really good in the Gunks. Weather forecast of constant rain has been mostly wrong. You should bring a warm jacket and pants to sleep in case of camping. That should do it.
I might be able to go climbing in the Gunks some weekend during that period (although my brother will be visiting around the same time).
For beer in NYC, Rattle-n-Hum on 33rd between 5th and Madison is very hard to beat if you want to delve into American Micro-brew culture. Consistently amazing beers (with no junk) on tap and above-average bar food.
Up in the Gunks, I prefer the Mountain Brauhaus to the options in town, but the beer selection is heavy on German wheat beers...
Cool... I'll probably be at Gunks from 5th to 9th August, first, than don't know yet...
