Only 6 ropes are available here. People who climb there say that the 6 ropes are good though, over 50 routes exist from 5.6 to 5.12s. The climbs themselves offer a wide variety of style - from simulated corner and face climbing to overhangs as well. Bouldering routes do exist, but the gym focuses mainly on top rope and lead rope style. A very solid gym, especially in the 5.9-5.11 range of climbing.

There seems to be some doubt over the existence of day passes, so phone before visiting if you are not a member of the gym or don't know anyone who is.

$35 guest pass for the whole gym (including pool and hot tub!), gear rental is free

Only 6 ropes are available here, but as many know space can be a premium in NYC. Those 6 ropes are packed with goodies though, over 50 routes exist from 5.6 to 5.12s. The climbs themselves offer a wide variety of style - from simulated corner and face climbing to overhangs as well. Bouldering routes do exist, but the gym focuses mainly on top rope and lead rope style. A very solid gym, especially in the 5.9-5.11 range of climbing. Your Technique will improve climbing there.... friendly and well trained staff are available, gear use is free. The wall itself is a textured art wall with features all over the place.

Guest passes cost $35 for the entire gym, which is extraordinary. 7 floors of space include a workout floor, cardio floor, classes any time of day, squash, basketball, pool, hot tub, and the like.

Thanks for the advertisement, you shill. Hope you enjoy working there.

I actually don't work there anymore. But since there was nothing about it in the info area (other than a statement which is untrue - I will argue that the routes are some of the best in NYC since I've climbed at most of the other gyms - including Chelsea, MPHC, The Rock in Astoria, and Reebok - but it's definitely not the best on the east coast nor would I argue it even being the definitive best in NYC), I figured I'd do the climbers of new york a service of letting them know more info about the gym.

If you have a problem with that, your unlike any of the climbers who I've ever met before - as in good mannered and chill.

As for what a shill is, I have no idea - but thanks for submitting a useful comment.

Great gym and good climbing wall , however I feel it cannot compare with Chelsea Piers for the size of the wall, the number of routes and their quality . It might certainly be a problem to climb regularly here because of the lack of ropes available.
FYI, I have climbed in MPHC, the wall which was near Lincoln Center, CCC and Chelsea.

By the way , I might be mistaken but I was told the day before yesterday by a Gym sales (?) manager that no day passes were available.

I don’t know about the whole gym because I wasn’t there for that and $35 a pop is above my pay grade, but I did enjoy the climbing wall. I got a 3-day pass on a promotion they were running in Jan. They have a very nice Entre Prises wall, rich with features and nice texture for smears, as well as some overhangs. I don’t think the entire wall is more than 25’ wide and 33’ tall, but it was packed with routes and wasn’t crowded with climbers. It has some nice 5.10’s that called for stemming and static moves that tested balance. There are also a couple of nice routes that finish with dyno’s. Climbing hours though are limited.
Depending on that day pass situation, would be a great place to take someone that was just starting out so they can learn to belay since they have both gri-gris and atc’s and the gym pros seemed more than happy to help newbs. And after they cash out I guess there is a jacuzzi and pool so they don’t feel like they wasted their money.
