Location(s)

A medium sized boulder on riverside dr, a little north of 165th st with a bunch of potential routes. There is a smaller boulder (loney bin - south boulder) at the 165th st. junction, this is a good warm up spot.

is this a spot where you can climb without the cops rolling up asking you to leave? i've driven past so many times wanting to come back to climb and it's like a barren wasteland (aide from the occasional flower seller or homeless dude). also, any pics?

I got some images from the location (loney bin - North Boulder):

rock       rock       rock

3 blocks down, on 165th Street and Riverside Dr., there is another small boulder (loney bin - South Boulder). (The water is due to a heavy rain ealier)

rock       rock       rock

driving by, those rocks look a lot smaller. great pics. these are the same rocks off the highway? amazing. are they pretty dirty? did you guys have to do any cleaning? was there any hassles at all from people driving by? anyway, thanks so much for the pics.

Yes, they are a little dirty. Its a black dust I guess from the cars driving by. I was able to play a little. Harder grips are difficult with the dirt. I have not cleaned it but plan to. Unfortunately it will need to keep cleaning since it's next to a highway.

cleaning it will probably require more cleaning! it's in a constant path of dirt. but, is it worth it even? are they really climbable? the pics looks great. give a good sense of what's going on. i can see a few lines that look cool, but how much can really be done there? what's your experience been so far?

ok. Clean up will be a little tough, but I was planing it already.

The rock on 165th is not bad.

The rock on 168th is a path for mud because there is plants on top. By clearing up about 4 feet of grass from the edge (on top of the rock) mud wont come down anymore when it rains.

You're right in asking, "is it worth it even?"

Cleaning will take some hard work. Gotta clean the top to avoid future mess, gotta clean the face and cracks of the rock, and clean the ground below.

But I had a good time, went up 5 different paths. There is an overhang about 10 foot off the ground. If I come clean this area, I will also clean the ground below.

I think It's worth it for me; I live there. I can just walk to it within 10 minutes. So it would be my evening workouts.

so you climbed 5 different paths on the 165th street rock? thanks for doing the dirty work, by the way. i live fairly close myself and have always wanted to check the rocks out. i'm probably going to go some time this week and see what's going on. should i bring a brush with me or mud boots or both? will i need a crash pad too?
