Frustrated by the lack of tough penalties for the death-defying climbers who scale New York City’s skyscrapers, the City Council on Thursday unveiled bill No. 721 — call it the anti-Spidey law.

East coast premiere of Dosage 5 at The Rock Club - July 10

The east coast premiere of the new Dosage 5 movie from Big Up Productions is being held at The Rock Club on Thursday July 10 at 8pm. It will be the only screening of the movie on the east coast so this will be your one chance to catch it on a big screen. Director Josh Lowell will be on hand to introduce the movie and answers questions.

Dosage 5 features some of the world's top climbers including: Chris Sharma, Dave Graham, Beth Rodden, Tommy Caldwell, Daniel Woods, Paul Robinson, Dani Andrada, Patxi Usobiago, Daila Ojeda and many more.

J Hood Wright Park - Opportunity for access

Passing the J Hood wright park cliffs the other day I noticed the wall (and spikey railings) that made it relatively unclimbable have fallen/come down and been removed. This will give climbers far better access to these cliffs, as long as the nyc parks dept does not replace the fence.
We should act NOW to make sure climbers get access. I will try to contact the parks dept to figure out who to call about the plans for construction at this site.

boulder/climb descriptions

Hey Tom/everyone,

I know I haven't followed this idea in my recent additions to the wiki map. But maybe we should try to standardize the descriptions. Some quick thoughts for points to include...
location/directions/nearest subway stop(s)
height/size
ratings/topo
quality of rock (dirty, vegetation, etc)
quality of landing (grass, dog shit/glass count etc.)

Anyone else have ideas to include?

No camping at Tuthilltown this season

Got this message from Ralph at Tuthilltown today:

We'd appreciate if you would notify all members that we are NOT offering camping at TUTHILLTOWN this season, at least not till after July. We are just too busy and too much going on just now to accommodate climber traffic. And no toilet facilities available just now. Our apologies and looking forward to the return of our climber friends to Tuthilltown. We will post you and GUNKS.COM when we are ready to welcome climbers again. Thanks.

Hi,
can anyone please advise where on Manhattan I can buy an avalanche beacon Barryvox Pulse by Mammut? My friend is coming to NYC in two weeks and I want her to buy me one.
Thanks, Andrea
