About ClimbNYC

ClimbNYC.com has existed for years as a forum for the climbing community in New York. A few years ago the forums were overrun by spam and people pretty much stopped using the site.

In 2008 the site was taken up and rebuilt by Thomas Turnbull, a web developer and rock climber. The web address and hosting is owned and paid for by Todd Morris, another NYC-based climber.

The gym entries and links are all added by Thomas (use the contact page if there's something you would like added). A small amount of revenue is generated by advertising, but the site is basically done from a desire to help people find great places to climb and great people to climb with. Help is appreciated (it takes time to delete the spam and keep the information up to date) so use the contact page to get involved. Several gyms have offered free entry to the gym as thanks for the effort put in to building this site.

No guarantees are made for the rating system on the site - anyone is free to rate the gyms, and people can and do game the system - take the ratings with a pinch of salt!
